Crawler Spider Crane Operation Methods and Precautions

Crawler Spider Crane Operation Methods and Precautions

1. Basic operation methods

  1. Before turning on the machine

    • Check engine oil, hydraulic oil, diesel, battery, wire rope, outriggers, and tracks.
    • The ground should be level and firm; soft ground must be reinforced with steel plates or wooden beams.
  2. Extend the outriggers
    • All four outriggers must be fully extended and stabilized, and the vehicle should be leveled. Operating without extending the outriggers is strictly prohibited.
    • The outrigger legs bear the load evenly to prevent tipping over.
  3. Walking operation
    • Retract the boom, raise the hook, and move at low speed.
    • Do not make sharp turns, do not cross deep ditches, do not drive on steep slopes, and avoid shifting the center of gravity.
  4. Hoisting operation
    • Test lift first: Lift the heavy object 10–20 cm off the ground and hover to check stability.
    • Gently push and release the control handle: the lifting, luffing, and rotating actions should be slow, steady, and smooth.
    • Avoid sudden stops and sharp turns when rotating to prevent heavy objects from swinging.
  5. Vehicle retraction process
    • Lower the hook → Retract the boom → Retract the outriggers → Turn off the engine and disconnect the power → Check the vehicle condition.

2. Key Points to Note

  1. Overloading and operating beyond the radius are strictly prohibited, and objects of unknown weight should not be lifted.
  2. Do not use a cable stay, do not drag, do not suspend or bury heavy objects, and it is forbidden to extend or retract the boom while under load.
  3. Do not lift if the outriggers are not fully extended or the vehicle body is not leveled.
  4. It is strictly forbidden for people to stand under suspended loads and within the turning radius.
  5. Operations are prohibited when the ground is soft, muddy, or steep.
  6. Stop lifting operations when the wind is too strong or visibility is poor on rainy days.
  7. Operate with one person in command; do not act if signals are unclear.
  8. If unusual noises, vibrations, or oil leaks are detected, stop the machine immediately for inspection.
  9. It is strictly forbidden for individuals to operate under the influence of alcohol, when fatigued, or without a license.
  10. Long-term parking: Park on a flat surface, slightly extend the support legs, cut off power for anti-theft.
